Shoring Systems
PCC designs temporary structures, including conventional steel pile sheeting and shoring, and sheet piles for support of excavations during construction. We also work with a number of design-build contractors and can provide services throughout the construction process.
Temporary Support
This system is common in the DC Metro area. It includes steel soldier piles with tiebacks and wood lagging. The foundation walls of below-ground parking structures may be constructed as one-faced reinforced concrete walls. Design of the wall drainage system is a big factor in the design.
Temporary Bracing
This type of system uses a steel soldier piles with cross-lot struts and wood lagging.
Sheet Piles
Sheet piles are used in soft ground conditions. This excavation is about half down and will extend well below groundwater for installation of a tunnel.
Slurry Wall
Slurry walls are used to provide temporary support and as permanent below-grade walls. They are more expensive, but the stiffer system minimizes damage to adjacent buildings.

Conventional Underpinning
Hand dug underpinning pits with tiebacks are sometimes used instead of steel piles with brackets.
